WildCare Inc.
That this barred owlet survived a long fall from its tree cavity isn't nearly as remarkable as the journey back home. Owlets that fall 50 feet to the forest floor don't usually last very long, but the property owners intervened and brought it to WildCare. After an initial exam, a night of rest, and some feedings at our Center, the raptor team returned to the nesting site where an arborist replaced the young bird while a recording of barred owlet begging calls was played. Mom couldn't resist and showed up within 30 minutes. Typically barred owl orphans have to stay with us until early October, but there's no place like home.
